MYAG Story
How did I find the company name? To build MYAG I have looked at company that I like, and as big as my ambitions. I wrote multiple company names on a sheet, the sheet was full, but my preferred company was on top.
Microsoft
Everything start with Microsoft, since Windows 95 I work with Microsoft, I learned a lot with them. Building network has always make me happy, illuminate my days, I just love it, and when you want to build your own network Microsoft rules. I have learned the client/server model, and I have learned how powerful a computer can be. Windows 2000 is good, but if you manage your computer under windows 2000 server, a new world appears, an amazing world. I started to learn active directory, when you learn this product with four computers it's good, but when you manage two thousand computers, wow, you see how powerful it is.
I started to work in big enterprise, Schering Canada, I saw a preview of the forest in the active directory one day, don't remember a lot, but I was impressed. Schering Canada is not the main company, the main company was Schering plough, in the active directory I saw the main site, under this site, multiple sites everywhere in the world. This mean that if the network administrator in the headquarters decide to change configuration in the group policy, he can force every network that configuration. This is so good, I want to be the headquarters of something, I can't wait to install my network. This also mean that every site they have Windows network administrators, Microsoft have created they own jobs.
While I was working there, I heard a rumor, the president of Microsoft, Bill Gates, make so mush money that if a tweeny dollar is on the ground, the time wasted to pick-up this tweeny dollars make him loose money because he lost too mush time. I don't know if it's true, but I did not hear this rumor somewhere else. So, I started to take a closer look what this company is all about.
How the company made is way there? To do what they do they have to own the operating system, so it all started there. When they release the first version, ms dos, and Windows 3.1, they were not alone on the market, other operating system are there, like IBM os/2. Now I need to understand how they took advantage on competitors. I saw two principal things, the first one is, IBM install is operating system on IBM machine, Microsoft install it on every other personal computer. Second thing that I saw is developers, other company make money by making a software who's compatible with Windows.
One day I was at home working on my computers, and I was thinking about the licences of Windows, look how this is smart, I need a licence at home and a licence at work. For one person they sale two licences. Wow, I must find a product like that, used at home and at work. After weeks, months, don't really remember, I saw the phone line and I asked myself, why the phone technology are not controlled by a computer science company. I started to look at new technology they are released on the market to replace the phone line, tweeny years later, still none.
I forgot, Skype, when I saw Skype with an option to call a phone on your computer, I said to myself, that's it, this software will replace the phones. I watched, after few months, years, nothing, they are not able to replace the phone, why, they have the resources. Why cannot a software replace phone technology? I must find this answer.
While working as network administrator, I realize something very good about Microsoft, one day we had problem with a server, we were not able to fix the problem. This day I realize what Microsoft is all about, can't find the problem, no problem, Microsoft is there, they guarantied their products, let's called Microsoft. Microsoft has found the problem, they sent us a patch, for free.
After years of analyses, why cannot a software replace phone, it's because it's a software, the solution is a protocol.
Apple
When you are a fan of Microsoft you must know Apple.
Has a fan of Microsoft I did not go with Apple, but I did learn a lot with them, they have showed me that I was wrong about them. Working a lot with Microsoft, I did not understand Apple, because I did not need them. Today I have mush to say about the progress they have made.
Let's start with the processor's, Apple, was using back then, a processor that was not compatible with other's personal computer. I did not work with this technology; this is what I saw from a public perspective. Today, I think the problem with this technology was the popularity of it, has no application was compatible it was harder to find developers. One day they have changed the processor, and everything changed. I have a friend who bought a MAC and installed Windows on it, why he's doing that, you buy a MAC, and you uninstall the operating system. My conclusion was, Apple is not only a software maker, but Apple also makes quality products, and they work hard on the product prestige.
Ok, Apple is not about a operating system, Apple is about high-quality products and making people look good. Everybody know that marketing is about feeling, but you have different way to use this, and different feeling that you can use.
Let's do a parenthesis; if you hear on your tv, tired of fighting with the burning food on your stove, try our product. See here, tired of fighting with burning food, make a feeling inside you, a moment that you lived and was not happy about it. Now I can sell you a soap who fix this problem. Feelings are important, you have two parts in this, first part, is anger, not happy to fight with burning food, second part is happiness, when you use the product and you don't have to fight, you feel happy, strong, the fight is now easy.
If you make people look like a king when they use your products, you will sales a lot. Steve jobs understood that, when you watch movie about it, you can see it, his trying to build product that is nice to view, a product that you can put in your living room, and reflex prestige.
Apple is more than computers, is a way to live, they sales an image, when you have an Apple product it's like telling to people around you, I am a king. It's like having a Rolex, you really thing they sale you the possibility to have the time, no they sales success, prestige. They sales you a feeling inside you, that makes you feel proud of you.
Let's talk about product name, again Apple thumbs up, keep it simple, they understood their clients. Let's look at Samsung, here's few models name from Samsung, Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10e, Samsung Note 10. Tell me which one is the best, you need to read the specification. Let's look at Apple, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13, tell me which is the best. In a conversation what would you feel if you speak with somebody and is telling you he has the iPhone 12 and you tell him you have the iPhone 13, make you feels good.
Apple smartly use general knowledge; everyone knows that 13 is higher than 12, let's play the same game which one is the best, iPhone 13, or iPhone 13 pro? They use words in their product name that anybody can understand.
Another situation that I lived with an Apple product; I was working in a company that was using only Apple computers. My supervisor is talking about Apple products like crazy, you can remote control other Apple computers because he is the owner, or something like that. His telling how great this is, you must have that… blablabla. I can't believe that my supervisor is trying to sale me this as a new technology, I was doing this on Microsoft network fifteen years ago. I learned few things about this, knowledge is important, the people you hire can go as far as their knowledge.
Popular knowledge is important, Microsoft and Apple are two different company, and they have different customers. Microsoft is more business; this mean that when they release new technologies the public does not always hear about it. Apple customers are public, this mean that everybody hears about new technologies, they can easily play with popular knowledge, this is a plus value for the business.
Another thing I learned from Apple, Steve Jobs, I don't know the deal that he had to do to build his business, but at some point, he got kick out is own business. You need to understand that business is business, if you make a deal with multiple people, and you only own 49% of your company, they can use you to build nice product, then throw you out. If you have 50% of your business this also mean that you don't have the power to go over your 50% partner. You need 51% to lead.
I like Google because I saw this from start, same has Microsoft when the product was release, several competitors existed. How do they manage to take the lead? First, they add a better way to index web site than competitors. Second, Google did put order in the web, the search engine is amazing, how they do, I don't know, but they control the results, and they did something amazing with that power. They have made some rules on the internet, they have showed developers how they should build their web site to appear on top in the search engine.
One of the problems on the internet is that people was lying, some web site was using popular knowledge to appears in search engine. Google thwart them by clarifying rules on the web and put orders in chaos. They have trained developers.
They train developers by giving us some rules, but they also build free and powerful tools for developers. They have built a lot of API to make sure people can connect to their services. It's a common point, develop a product that other developers can develop on it.
Google has made a lot of free products for customer, while other company sales similar product they give it to you for free, they cheat, 100% legal. How they can do that, where's the money comes from. Google use knowledge to make money, this is amazing, everything is free, but if you are a business and you want to appear at the right time on a search page, you must pay. Basically, they use business to make money by offering a high-quality service and give everything for free to the users.

Yahoo
Yahoo is a technology company; they provide web services, like news, search engine, and emails. I also heard a rumor about them, the thousand-dollar millionaire, what I heard is they were so innovating, at that time, that people who bough one thousand-dollar of actions, they became millionaire.
I have learned from the best, yes United-States are the best.
